Just like I did when I was a classroom teacher, I had to take a much needed break this summer to finish some work projects and to get my professional learning on to deepen my learning as I get ready for back to school. My favorite part of my summer were the opportunities I had to share to my passion about culturally responsive mathematics and talk with others who have similar passions.
At the beginning of my summer, I found an amazing graphic artist to create my new logo for my blog! Thank you to Sherita Carthon of Urban Classic Design! She was able to capture all of my ideas and represent them in cool design.

In June, I had an opportunity to talk discuss equity in math class with one of my favorite authors, Jennifer Lempp, of Math Workshop at the Model Schools Conference in Washington, D.C. in June.
I also had the honor of talking with the hosts of one of my new favorite podcasts, Method to the Mathness. I enjoyed my conversation with hosts and colleagues Nikki Lalonde, Jennifer Lenhardt, and Nicole Bridge about how teachers can create an environment of belonging for students of color in math class.
Last month, I shared with my Math Solutions colleagues how to create safe environments for Black girls during our #InspireMathCulture session at our recent Consultant Summit. I am planning to share more from my interviews this summer in upcoming blogs.
I’m going to continue learning, sharing, and writing during the rest of my summer break. Stay tuned for more in September.
