Appreciating Teachers

“A hard truth that keeps coming back to me is the idea that when one overlooks those in their sphere of influence, the ones who have been overlooked see it, feel it, and experience it.”

Lachanda Garrison, from The Power of Stories blog post

For Teacher Appreciation Week, I wanted to celebrate a passionate educator who I have recently gotten to know through connections via Twitter. Lachanda Garrison has been in education for about 13 years. Currently, she is a 2nd grade teacher leader in Manama, Bahrain for a DODEA School teaching a group of international and U.S. military-connected students. She has taught multiple grades including 1st and 3rd grades and has served as an instructional coach for literacy and mathematics.

In this month’s post, Lachanda shares her math story, her work as an educator, and her recent honor of being named DODEA State Teacher of the Year.
