Happy New Year! 2021 happened so quickly that I didn’t realize that I haven’t posted in awhile. I wanted to share some highlights that made my year.
My first highlight of 2021 was watching episodes of Centering Sisters: Real Talk for Black Women by Black Women. Centering Sisters is a movement focused on centering the experiences of Black women and girls to create a space for dialogue and healing. Two of the founding members of Centering Sisters joined me on two episodes this year in March and April.
My second and third highlights of 2021 are tied together! I decided to pursue a Masters in Teaching Mathematics at Mt. Holyoke. I’ve loved being back in school, tackling math tasks, and discussing equity practices in classrooms. Because of my assignments, I’ve also been able to have great math conversations with one of my brother’s children. One of my nieces and two of my nephews answered my call for help on my student interview papers.

Here’s to 2022! Here’s to more math stories and conversations in the new year!!
